DAY 53: THE KNOT OF BEING UNABLE TO SURRENDER A PROBLEM YOU HAVE TRIED TO SOLVE FOR YEARS
DAY 53: THE KNOT OF BEING UNABLE TO SURRENDER A PROBLEM YOU HAVE TRIED TO SOLVE FOR YEARS
Today I place before Mary, Undoer of Knots, the problem I have carried for years the situation I have tried to fix, control, understand, and solve through my own strength. I bring before her the exhaustion of trying again and again without seeing the breakthrough I hoped for. I ask her to help me surrender this burden to Jesus, not because I have stopped caring, but because I have finally realized that I cannot carry everything by myself.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
Mary, my Mother, I come before you with a problem that has remained in my life for far too long. I have tried different solutions, made plans, sought advice, prayed, waited, worked, sacrificed, and tried again. Yet somehow I keep returning to the same place. I am tired of carrying something I have spent years trying to solve. Sometimes I tell myself that if I stop trying to control it, everything will fall apart.
Mother, teach me the difference between responsibility and control. Help me do what I can faithfully while surrendering what lies beyond my power. Take this problem into your hands and place it before Jesus. Obtain for me the grace to trust Him even when I cannot see how the situation will be resolved.
“Cast all your anxiety on him, because he cares for you.” — 1 Peter 5:7
There are problems that become so familiar that they almost become part of our identity. I may have carried the same financial burden for years, prayed over the same family situation, waited for the same healing, struggled with the same person, worried about the same child, tried to repair the same relationship, or searched endlessly for an answer to a problem that refuses to disappear. I have spent years thinking, planning, fixing, checking, worrying, and asking myself what else I can do. Even when I sleep, my mind continues working on the problem.
Sometimes the hardest thing is not finding a solution but accepting that I cannot be the solution to everything. I may believe that if I stop worrying, I am being irresponsible. I may think that surrender means giving up. But surrender is not abandoning responsibility. It is recognizing the boundary between what I can faithfully do and what belongs in God's hands. I can make the phone call, seek wise counsel, repay what I can, pursue treatment, apologize, make a necessary decision, or take another practical step—but I cannot control another person's heart, force a door to open, guarantee tomorrow, or command circumstances to obey my plans.
Mary, Undoer of Knots, I bring you the exhaustion of carrying something that I have tried to solve for years. I surrender my need to understand everything before I trust God. I surrender the constant mental calculations, the endless “what ifs,” the fear that everything depends upon me, and the temptation to believe that I must somehow fix what only God can finally resolve. Teach me to place the problem into Jesus' hands one day at a time, while remaining faithful to whatever responsibility He has actually entrusted to me.
Mary, Undoer of Knots, I bring before you the problem I have carried for years. You know how many times I have tried to solve it and how many times I have become discouraged when my efforts did not produce the result I wanted. You know the nights I have replayed the situation in my mind and the mornings when I have woken up already thinking about it. Take this burden from my hands and place it before Jesus.
Mother, untie the knot of control that has made me believe everything depends upon me. Help me recognize what I can change and what I must entrust to God. If there is something I need to do, give me courage and wisdom to do it. If there is something I need to stop doing, give me the strength to stop. If I need to wait, give me patience. If I need to accept something I cannot change, give me peace.
Mary, help me surrender without becoming passive. Keep me faithful in prayer, responsible in my actions, and wise in my decisions, but free me from carrying tomorrow before it arrives. When my mind begins searching for another solution at three in the morning, remind me that God is already present in the situation. When fear tells me that everything will collapse if I stop controlling it, help me place my trust in Jesus.
Most Holy Mother, I surrender this problem again today. And tomorrow, if I am tempted to take it back, remind me that I already placed it in the hands of your Son. Untie the knot of anxiety, exhaustion, impatience, fear, and self-reliance that has grown around this situation. May I continue doing what is mine to do while leaving the outcome to God. Teach me the freedom of saying with my whole heart: Jesus, I trust You with what I cannot solve. Amen.
Today I bring before Mary, Undoer of Knots, the problem I have tried to solve for years. I bring the repeated attempts, disappointments, plans, prayers, sleepless nights, conversations, sacrifices, and fears surrounding this situation. I bring the part of me that is tired of trying and the part of me that is afraid to stop trying.
Quietly name before Mary the problem you have carried for so long. Tell her what you have tried, what has failed, what you still hope for, and what you are afraid will happen if you surrender it.
Mary, Undoer of Knots, take this problem from my hands and place it into the hands of Jesus.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
Mary, Undoer of Knots, I surrender the problem I have carried for years. Untie the knot of control, anxiety, fear, and exhaustion that has grown around it. Teach me to remain faithful in what I can do while trusting God with what I cannot control.
O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to you.
1. Mary, Undoer of Knots, teach me to surrender what I cannot control.
(One Hail Mary.)
2. Mary, Undoer of Knots, give me wisdom to know what is mine to do and what I must leave to God.
(One Hail Mary.)
3. Mary, Undoer of Knots, strengthen my trust when I cannot see the solution.
(One Hail Mary.)
Lord Jesus, I place before You the situation that has remained in my life for years. I have carried it through different seasons, tried different approaches, and hoped that eventually it would disappear. I am tired, Lord, and I admit that I cannot continue carrying it as though everything depends upon me.
Jesus, receive this burden from me. Give me grace to face each day without allowing this problem to consume my thoughts, my peace, and my relationship with You.
Our Father...
On each of the 10 small beads:
Mary, Undoer of Knots, help me surrender the problem I have carried for years.
(10 times.)
One Hail Mary and One Glory Be.
Lord Jesus, I surrender my desire to control how this situation ends. I have tried to predict every possibility and prepare for every outcome because I am afraid of what may happen if I am not in control. Untie this knot of fear and teach me to trust Your wisdom beyond my own understanding.
Lord, help me act responsibly without trying to control everything. Let me trust You with outcomes that I cannot determine.
Our Father...
On each of the 10 small beads:
Mary, Undoer of Knots, free me from the need to control what belongs to God.
(10 times.)
One Hail Mary and One Glory Be.
Lord Jesus, You know how many times I have tried. You know the plans that failed, the doors that closed, the efforts that produced little, and the moments when I felt like giving up. Restore the strength that has been drained by years of trying to make something happen.
Jesus, renew my strength without making me dependent upon my own effort. Show me whether I need to try again, change direction, wait, seek help, or simply rest in You.
Our Father...
On each of the 10 small beads:
Mary, Undoer of Knots, renew my strength when repeated efforts have exhausted me.
(10 times.)
One Hail Mary and One Glory Be.
Lord Jesus, I surrender the fear that if I stop worrying about this problem, I will lose control of everything. I have carried it so long that releasing it feels frightening. I am afraid that surrender means failure, but I ask You to teach me that trust is not failure.
Lord, help me release the false responsibility of controlling everything. Hold what I cannot hold and protect what I cannot protect.
Our Father...
On each of the 10 small beads:
Mary, Undoer of Knots, calm my heart when surrender feels frightening.
(10 times.)
One Hail Mary and One Glory Be.
Lord Jesus, I surrender the questions that have remained unanswered. Why has this lasted so long? Why have my prayers seemed delayed? Why have certain solutions failed? Why has this situation continued despite everything I have tried? I place these questions before You without demanding that I understand everything today.
Jesus, give me faith when I do not have explanations. Keep me from allowing unanswered questions to become reasons to abandon hope.
Our Father...
On each of the 10 small beads:
Mary, Undoer of Knots, strengthen my faith when I do not understand.
(10 times.)
One Hail Mary and One Glory Be.
Lord Jesus, I know how easily I can surrender something in prayer and then take it back through worry. I give the problem to You in the morning and spend the rest of the day trying to solve it again in my mind. Untie this cycle within me and teach me to return the burden to You whenever fear takes it back.
Lord, when anxiety makes me pick up what I surrendered, remind me that You are still holding me and that I do not have to solve everything at once.
Our Father...
On each of the 10 small beads:
Mary, Undoer of Knots, help me keep surrendering what I keep taking back.
(10 times.)
One Hail Mary and One Glory Be.
Lord Jesus, today I make a deeper surrender. I surrender not only the problem but also my demand that it be resolved according to my timetable, my method, and my expectations. I surrender the outcome. I surrender the timing. I surrender the way forward. I ask You to guide me in whatever I must do and to carry what I cannot.
Jesus, I place this entire situation into Your hands. Let Your wisdom lead me, Your grace sustain me, and Your peace guard my heart. I will do what I can, but I refuse to believe that everything depends upon me.
Our Father...
On each of the 10 small beads:
Mary, Undoer of Knots, teach me to trust Jesus with what I cannot solve.
(10 times.)
One Hail Mary and One Glory Be.
Mary, Undoer of Knots, I have carried this problem for years, but today I place it into your hands. I surrender my repeated attempts, my fears, my calculations, my disappointments, and my need to know exactly how everything will work out. Take this knot to Jesus and ask Him to give me the wisdom to act where I must act and the humility to surrender where I must surrender.
Mother, when I am tempted to take the burden back, remind me that Jesus is not asking me to carry what belongs to Him. Keep me faithful in prayer and responsible in my actions, but protect me from becoming consumed by what I cannot control. May surrender become a daily act of trust rather than a single prayer I say and then forget. Amen.
Mary, Undoer of Knots, take from me the burden I have carried for years.
Mary, Mother of Divine Providence, teach me to trust God with what I cannot control.
Mary, Refuge of Sinners, lead me from anxiety into the peace of Christ.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
Mary, my Mother, I come before you exhausted from trying to solve what has remained unresolved for years. I have tried to fix it, understand it, control it, pray about it, and find different ways forward. Sometimes I have wondered whether God sees how long I have carried this burden. Today I place it into your hands and ask you to carry it to Jesus.
Mother, untie the knot of control that makes me believe everything depends upon me. Help me recognize the difference between faithfulness and anxiety. If there is an action I need to take, show me clearly. If there is a conversation I need to have, give me courage. If there is help I need to seek, give me humility. If there is something I must simply entrust to God, give me the grace to let go.
Mary, Undoer of Knots, help me surrender this problem again whenever I am tempted to take it back. Let me stop fighting battles in my mind that I cannot win through worry. Teach me to live one day at a time, to do what is within my responsibility, and to trust Jesus with everything beyond it. May His peace become greater within me than my fear of what might happen. Amen.
Lord Jesus, through Mary, Your Mother, I place this long-standing problem into Your hands. I surrender the years I have spent trying to solve it. I surrender the disappointments, the failed attempts, the unanswered questions, and the fear that nothing will ever change. I surrender my timetable and my preferred solution. I ask You to take charge of what I cannot carry.
Mary, Undoer of Knots, help me remain faithful without becoming consumed. Teach me to do what is right without believing that I must control the result. When I wake up thinking about this problem, help me surrender it again. When fear tells me that everything depends upon me, lead me back to Jesus. May my heart finally discover the freedom of trusting God with what I cannot solve.
Heavenly Father, I thank You because I do not have to carry every burden alone. You know the problem I have brought before You today, and You know every detail that I cannot explain. Give me wisdom for the things within my responsibility and peace for the things beyond my control.
Lord Jesus, through the intercession of Mary, Undoer of Knots, teach me the holy freedom of surrender. I place this problem into Your hands and choose to trust You one day at a time. If the answer comes through a miracle, give me humility to receive it. If it comes through a new path, give me courage to follow it. If it requires waiting, give me patience. Above all, keep my heart anchored in You while I wait for what I cannot yet see. Amen.
Mary, Undoer of Knots, pray for me as I surrender what I cannot solve.
Our Lady of Divine Providence, guide me when I cannot see the way forward.
Mother of Hope, strengthen me when the waiting becomes difficult.
Sacred Heart of Jesus, I trust in You with all that I cannot control.
