DAY 26: THE KNOT OF OPPRESSION THAT HAS BECOME A SPIRITUAL PRISON
DAY 26: THE KNOT OF OPPRESSION THAT HAS BECOME A SPIRITUAL PRISON
For the grace to surrender to Mary, Undoer of Knots, every form of oppression that has weighed upon my life and made me feel imprisoned, powerless, afraid, or unable to experience the freedom Christ desires for me. May Jesus bring His light into every place of darkness, strengthen me against every form of evil, heal the wounds created by oppression, and lead me into the freedom, dignity, peace, and hope that come from belonging to Him.
SIGN OF THE CROSS
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of Mercy and my loving Mother, today I come before you carrying the weight of every oppression that has made my life feel like a prison. I bring the moments when I have felt powerless, constantly troubled, afraid, attacked, humiliated, restricted, or unable to move forward. I bring the situations that have drained my peace and the burdens that have made me wonder how long I must continue struggling. Mother, carry these concerns before Jesus and ask Him to shine His light into every place where I feel surrounded by darkness. May His Word become my refuge: "The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and my deliverer, my God, my rock in whom I take refuge" (Psalm 18:2). May I find safety in Christ when I feel overwhelmed.
Mary, Undoer of Knots, help me distinguish fear from faith and oppression from the ordinary struggles of life. Where I need protection, obtain wisdom; where I need healing, lead me toward it; where I need to confront injustice, give me courage; and where I need practical help, keep me from suffering silently. May I never allow fear to become the ruler of my heart. I cling to the words of Jesus: "Peace I leave with you; My peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled, and do not let them be afraid" (John 14:27). May the peace of Christ begin breaking the walls that oppression has built within me. Amen.
OPENING SCRIPTURE
"The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and my deliverer, my God, my rock in whom I take refuge."
Psalm 18:2
Oppression can make a person feel as though life has become a closed room with no visible exit. Sometimes the pressure comes through difficult circumstances, mistreatment, fear, manipulation, conflict, poverty, injustice, unhealthy relationships, or prolonged suffering. At other times, the burden may be deeply emotional or spiritual, leaving a person constantly anxious, discouraged, or unable to experience peace. When this continues for a long time, the heart can begin to believe that freedom is impossible.
But I must not allow every difficulty to convince me that I am spiritually imprisoned. Some situations require prayer, while others require courageous decisions, healthy boundaries, counselling, medical attention, legal protection, financial planning, or the support of trustworthy people. Seeking practical help does not mean that I have abandoned faith. God can work through prayer and through the people and resources He provides. Scripture teaches: "The wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits" (James 3:17). Therefore, I ask Jesus for wisdom to understand my situation clearly rather than allowing fear to interpret everything for me.
Today, through Mary, Undoer of Knots, I bring the prison of oppression before Jesus. I ask Him to reveal what is keeping me bound, heal what has been wounded, strengthen what has become weak, and guide me toward the steps that lead to genuine freedom. May I no longer live as though oppression has the final word over my life. May Christ restore my dignity, renew my courage, and teach me to walk wisely away from whatever continually destroys my peace. May His grace lead me from fear toward trust, from helplessness toward responsible action, and from darkness toward His light.
Mary, Undoer of Knots, loving Mother, I place before you every burden that has made me feel oppressed and imprisoned. I bring the situations where I have felt powerless, the relationships where I have felt controlled, the circumstances that have repeatedly drained my strength, and the fears that have made me afraid to move forward. I ask you to carry these burdens before Jesus and obtain for me the light to understand what I am facing. May His promise give me courage: "I sought the Lord, and He answered me, and delivered me from all my fears" (Psalm 34:4). May Christ free my heart from the fear that oppression has planted within me.
Mary, Undoer of Knots, untie every knot that has made me feel trapped in hopelessness, intimidation, constant anxiety, or helplessness. Where someone has treated me unjustly, give me courage to respond with wisdom. Where an unhealthy relationship has become destructive, give me discernment to establish necessary boundaries. Where my own choices have contributed to my suffering, give me humility to change. Where my heart has become exhausted, obtain renewal for me. May I remember the wisdom of Scripture: "God has not given us a spirit of cowardice, but rather a spirit of power and of love and of self discipline" (2 Timothy 1:7). May Jesus restore courage and self control within me.
Mother Mary, I now place before you the particular intention I carry today. (Mention your intention silently.) I bring before Jesus the specific situation in which I feel most oppressed, imprisoned, threatened, or powerless. I ask Him to enter this situation with His truth and mercy. May He show me what I need to confront, what I need to surrender, whom I need to seek help from, and what steps I must take toward safety and freedom. May His Word guide me: "You are my hiding place; You will protect me from trouble and surround me with deliverance" (Psalm 32:7). May Jesus become my refuge while He leads me wisely through this situation.
Mary, Undoer of Knots, help me recover the parts of myself that oppression has caused me to lose. Restore my confidence where humiliation has wounded it, my hope where prolonged suffering has weakened it, and my courage where fear has silenced me. May I refuse to define myself by what has happened to me. Teach me to walk with dignity, wisdom, forgiveness, and healthy boundaries. May the words of Scripture become my declaration: "The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in Him, and I am helped" (Psalm 28:7). May Jesus strengthen me to live responsibly and faithfully in the freedom He desires for me. Amen.
This Chaplet is prayed today for every form of oppression that has made me feel imprisoned, powerless, fearful, or unable to experience peace. I surrender the circumstances that have weighed upon my heart and ask Jesus to give me discernment to understand what I am facing, courage to respond appropriately, and grace to seek whatever help is necessary.
I now pray this Chaplet especially for the situation in which I feel most oppressed, asking Jesus to become my refuge and guide me toward genuine freedom.
Before beginning the Chaplet, I quietly place before God the particular oppression or intention I desire to surrender.
Mary, Undoer of Knots, take this burden before Jesus and lead me from oppression into His freedom.
Mother Mary, Undoer of Knots, I bring my oppression before Jesus. I surrender the fear, pressure, helplessness, and emotional exhaustion that have made me feel imprisoned. May Christ give me clear judgment, courageous faith, and the wisdom to take the steps necessary for freedom and peace. Amen.
O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to you.
1. Mother Mary, Undoer of Knots, obtain courage for me when oppression makes me afraid. (One Hail Mary.)
2. Mother Mary, Undoer of Knots, obtain wisdom for me to recognize the path toward freedom. (One Hail Mary.)
3. Mother Mary, Undoer of Knots, obtain peace for my troubled heart. (One Hail Mary.)
1ST KNOT – IN OUR TEMPTATION: PROTECT US
Mary, Mother of Mercy, protect me from allowing oppression to make me respond with hatred, revenge, or destructive decisions. Teach me to act with wisdom rather than reacting from wounded emotions. May Scripture guide me: "Do not be conquered by evil, but conquer evil with good" (Romans 12:21).
Intention Prayer
Virgin Mary, Mother of Fair Love, obtain for me self control and wisdom when I am provoked or mistreated.

One Hail Mary and One Glory Be.
2ND KNOT – IN OUR SIN: DELIVER US
Mother Mary, intercede for me where my own choices have contributed to the chains I am experiencing. Ask Jesus to expose what needs repentance and give me courage to make different choices. May God's Word lead me: "Those who conceal their sins do not prosper, but those who confess and renounce them find mercy" (Proverbs 28:13).
Intention Prayer
Virgin Mary, Mother of Fair Love, obtain humility for me to acknowledge my responsibility and grace to make the changes required.
Our Father...
Mary, Undoer of Knots, pray for me. (10 times.)
One Hail Mary and One Glory Be.
3RD KNOT – IN OUR DISTRESS: SUCCOR US
Mother Mary, come to my assistance when the pressure becomes difficult to endure. Carry my distress before Jesus and obtain for me the support I need rather than allowing me to suffer alone. May the Lord's promise sustain me: "The righteous cry, and the Lord hears them, and rescues them from all their troubles" (Psalm 34:17).
Intention Prayer
Virgin Mary, Mother of Fair Love, obtain for me the humility to seek trustworthy assistance when I can no longer carry a burden alone.
Our Father...
Mary, Undoer of Knots, pray for me. (10 times.)
One Hail Mary and One Glory Be.
4TH KNOT – IN OUR SORROW: COMFORT US
Mother Mary, comfort the wounded places within me that oppression has created. Heal the humiliation, grief, disappointment, and emotional exhaustion that I have carried for too long. May the Lord's mercy reach me through His Word: "He has sent Me to proclaim release to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to let the oppressed go free" (Luke 4:18).
Intention Prayer
Virgin Mary, Mother of Fair Love, bring my wounded heart before Jesus and obtain consolation for the sorrow I have carried.
Our Father...
Mary, Undoer of Knots, pray for me. (10 times.)
One Hail Mary and One Glory Be.
5TH KNOT – IN OUR FEAR: ENCOURAGE US
Mother Mary, encourage me when fear makes the prison seem stronger than my hope. Help me remember that my circumstances do not have absolute authority over my heart. May God's Word strengthen me: "The Lord is on my side; I will not fear. What can mortals do to me?" (Psalm 118:6).
Intention Prayer
Virgin Mary, Mother of Fair Love, obtain a courageous heart that refuses to surrender completely to fear.
Our Father...
Mary, Undoer of Knots, pray for me. (10 times.)
One Hail Mary and One Glory Be.
6TH KNOT – IN OUR ILLNESS: ALLEVIATE US
Mother Mary, bring healing to the emotional and physical exhaustion that prolonged oppression may have produced within me. May Jesus restore what constant pressure has weakened and give me wisdom to care for my body and mind responsibly. May I remember: "My soul refuses comfort" (Psalm 77:2), yet I still turn toward God who knows my deepest distress.
Intention Prayer
Virgin Mary, Mother of Fair Love, ask Jesus to restore my exhausted spirit and give me grace to receive appropriate care.
Our Father...
Mary, Undoer of Knots, pray for me. (10 times.)
One Hail Mary and One Glory Be.
7TH KNOT – IN OUR WEAKNESS: STRENGTHEN US
Mother Mary, strengthen me when I feel that I have reached the limits of what I can endure. Help me discover that weakness can become a place where I learn deeper dependence upon God and greater wisdom in seeking help. May Scripture encourage me: "He gives power to the faint, and strengthens the powerless" (Isaiah 40:29).
Intention Prayer
Virgin Mary, Mother of Fair Love, obtain perseverance for me until the Lord leads me into a wider place of freedom.
Our Father...
Mary, Undoer of Knots, pray for me. (10 times.)
One Hail Mary and One Glory Be.
Mary, Undoer of Knots, I thank you for carrying this burden before Jesus. I have brought the places where I have felt oppressed, restricted, frightened, and powerless. I now ask Christ to give me the wisdom to distinguish what requires prayer from what requires action, what requires forgiveness from what requires a firm boundary, and what requires patience from what requires me to move decisively.
Mother Mary, remain close to me as Jesus leads me forward. May I not allow oppression to destroy my character or make me abandon hope. May Christ restore my dignity, strengthen my judgment, and surround me with people who can offer truthful and compassionate support. May every step I take toward freedom be guided by wisdom rather than fear, and may the peace of Jesus become stronger within me than the pressure surrounding me. Amen.
O Mary, Undoer of Knots, intercede for me when oppression makes my life feel like a prison.
O Mary, Undoer of Knots, obtain courage, wisdom, protection, healing, and peace for me.
O Mary, Undoer of Knots, lead me to Jesus Christ, who calls me to walk in truth, dignity, and freedom. Amen.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
Mary, Undoer of Knots, Mother of Mercy, I place before you every oppression that has weighed upon my life and every circumstance that has made me feel trapped. I bring the fear, humiliation, helplessness, pressure, and exhaustion that I have carried within me. Ask Jesus to enter these places with His light and show me the way toward genuine freedom. May His Word remain my confidence: "The Lord is my strength and my fortress, my refuge in the day of trouble" (Jeremiah 16:19). May I find refuge in Him while I walk through this difficult season.
Mother Mary, I now place before you my particular intention. (Mention your intention silently.) I bring before Jesus the situation that has made me feel most oppressed and powerless. I ask Him to give me the courage to confront what must be confronted, the wisdom to seek help where help is needed, and the grace to leave what continually destroys my peace. May the Lord's promise guide me: "He brought me out into a broad place; He delivered me, because He delighted in me" (Psalm 18:19). May Jesus lead me from confinement into a place of greater freedom and peace.
Beloved Mother, help me walk forward without carrying the identity of a prisoner. May Jesus heal what oppression has damaged, restore what has been weakened, and teach me to live with wisdom, courage, and dignity. May I not allow fear to dictate my decisions or bitterness to control my heart. Mary, Undoer of Knots, remain beside me and lead me continually to Christ, that His grace may become the strength by which I overcome every burden and walk faithfully in the freedom He gives. Amen.
Mary, my Mother, I surrender to Jesus every circumstance that has made me feel oppressed. I surrender the people I cannot control, the situations I cannot immediately change, the fears I cannot resolve by myself, and the wounds I have carried for too long. I place everything before Christ, trusting the words: "Be strong, and let your heart take courage, all you who wait for the Lord" (Psalm 31:24). May I remain courageous while I wait for God's direction.
Mother Mary, I surrender my desire to escape through fear, anger, or impulsive decisions. Obtain for me the wisdom to take responsible steps toward freedom and the humility to receive help when I need it. May Jesus teach me when to speak, when to remain silent, when to forgive, when to establish boundaries, and when to walk away from what is harmful. I place my future into His hands and trust Him to lead me one step at a time. Amen.
Holy Mother, beloved Undoer of Knots, thank you for receiving this burden and leading me toward Jesus. I no longer want oppression to become the identity of my life. I ask Christ to restore my inner freedom, even while some external circumstances may still require patience and courageous action. May He give me clarity where there has been confusion and hope where prolonged suffering has drained my strength.
Remain with me, Mother, and keep directing my heart toward your Son. May Jesus teach me to live neither as a victim of fear nor as a prisoner of resentment, but as a person who seeks truth, accepts wise help, establishes healthy boundaries, and trusts God's providence. May His peace guard my heart and His grace guide every step I take toward freedom. Amen.
Mary, Undoer of Knots, pray for me.
Mary, Mother of Mercy, pray for me.
Mary, Comforter of the Afflicted, pray for me.
Mary, Help of Christians, pray for me.
Sacred Heart of Jesus, break every chain of oppression and lead me into Your peace. Amen.
