54-DAY SPIRITUAL NOVENA TO MARY, UNDOER OF KNOTS

DAY 1: MARY, INTO YOUR HANDS WE PLACE THE KNOTS OF OUR LIVES

Special Intention: For the grace to recognize the knots troubling our lives and to place them with confidence into the maternal hands of Mary, Undoer of Knots, asking her to intercede for us before her Son, Jesus Christ.

Opening Prayer

Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of Jesus and my loving Mother, I begin these 54 days by coming to you with everything that has become tangled within my life. You see the knots hidden behind my smile, the tears I have cried in secret, the relationships that have wounded me, the doors that remain closed, the prayers I have repeated for years, and the situations I no longer know how to resolve. Scripture tells me that you “treasured all these things and pondered them in your heart” (Luke 2:19). Mother, receive also the concerns of my heart. Take them into your maternal hands and present them to Jesus, your beloved Son.

Mary, Undoer of Knots, I remember how you noticed the need at Cana and quietly brought it to Jesus, saying, “They have no wine” (John 2:3). Mother, look upon the places in my life where the wine has run out: where joy has disappeared, where hope has weakened, where relationships have become painful, and where my strength is failing. Intercede for me before Jesus, and teach me to obey the words you spoke to the servants: “Do whatever He tells you” (John 2:5). Amen.

Reflection

There are knots in my life that I have tried repeatedly to untangle. Some may be knots of broken relationships, family conflict, financial hardship, sickness, rejection, loneliness, unforgiveness, delayed opportunities, unemployment, debts, disappointment, grief, fear, or uncertainty about my future. Some knots were created through mistakes I made; others came through wounds inflicted upon me, and still others arose from circumstances I never chose. After carrying them for so long, I can become tired and wonder whether anything will ever change. Yet today I hold onto God's promise: “For nothing will be impossible with God” (Luke 1:37).

Mary teaches me what to do when I reach the limits of my own strength. At Cana, she saw a need that others could not resolve, carried it to Jesus, and trusted Him before the miracle happened. This is what I desire to learn throughout these 54 days. I place my tangled situations into the maternal hands of Mary, Undoer of Knots, trusting her intercession while allowing her to lead me closer to Jesus. Her words at Cana become the direction for my journey: “Do whatever He tells you” (John 2:5).

Novena Prayer to Our Lady, Undoer of Knots

Mary, Undoer of Knots, Mother full of grace, I come before you carrying the tangled places of my life. You know every knot that has robbed me of peace: the knots within my family, relationships, health, finances, work, vocation, and spiritual life. You know my wounds of rejection, abandonment, betrayal, loneliness, unforgiveness, fear, anxiety, grief, disappointment, and unanswered prayers. Mother, I place these burdens into your maternal hands. Hold them close to your Immaculate Heart and present them to Jesus, who alone knows completely what my heart needs.

Mother Mary, I also place before you the knots that have remained for many years and those that seem impossible to untangle. I bring you my financial burdens, debts, delayed opportunities, closed doors, broken relationships, family difficulties, sickness, disappointments, spiritual struggles, and every situation that leaves me exhausted. At Cana, when the wine had run out, you noticed the need and brought it to Jesus (John 2:3). Mother, notice my need today. Look upon the places where my strength has run out and lovingly intercede for me.

Mary, Undoer of Knots, I now pause before you and name the particular knots I am carrying into these 54 days. (Mention the knots in your life: the people, relationships, wounds, family problems, financial burdens, debts, health concerns, delays, fears, disappointments, spiritual struggles, or unanswered prayers you desire to entrust to Our Lady.) Mother, I place each knot into your hands. I may not know how it will be undone, but I believe the words spoken to you by the angel: “Nothing will be impossible with God” (Luke 1:37). Present these intentions to your Son and obtain for me the grace to cooperate faithfully with whatever He asks of me.

Beloved Mother, while I ask you to intercede for the undoing of the knots around me, help me also recognize the knots within me. Where pride has complicated my life, obtain humility for me. Where unforgiveness has kept my wounds open, help me forgive. Where sin has tightened a knot, lead me to repentance. Where impatience has weakened my trust, teach me to wait. And where God's will is different from what I desire, obtain for me the grace to say with you, “Let it be with me according to your word” (Luke 1:38). Mary, Undoer of Knots, take my hand, lead me to Jesus, and teach me to do whatever He tells me. Amen.

CHAPLET TO OUR LADY, UNDOER OF KNOTS

This chaplet is prayed when you are facing difficult challenges, confusion, delays, disappointments, family problems, financial struggles, or any “knots” in your life that only God can untie through the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Pray slowly, with faith, and surrender your intention completely into her maternal hands.

I now pray the Chaplet to Our Lady, Undoer of Knots, entrusting to her maternal intercession the particular knots I am carrying during this 54-day spiritual journey.

Before beginning the Chaplet, I quietly name the knot that weighs most heavily upon my heart today.

Mary, Undoer of Knots, take this knot into your maternal hands and intercede for me before your Son, Jesus Christ.

Mother Mary, Undoer of Knots, I come before you today with humility and trust. I place into your loving hands every knot in my life those I know and those I do not know. Take them, Mother, and undo them with your gentle, powerful grace. Lead me to the peace and freedom that comes from your Son, Jesus Christ. Amen.

1st Knot – In Our Temptation: Protect Us

Mother Mary, Undoer of Knots, protect us in moments of temptation, weakness, and spiritual attack. Break every evil snare set against us and lead us safely back to the path of grace.

Mother Mary, Undoer of Knots, deliver us from the bondage of sin those sins we struggle with, repeat, or cannot overcome. Untie the knots that keep us far from God’s mercy.

Mother Mary, Undoer of Knots, come quickly to our aid when we are overwhelmed, confused, or anxious. Intercede for peace, clarity, and divine intervention.

Mother Mary, Undoer of Knots, console our hearts in moments of pain, loss, and disappointment. Be our Mother of comfort and restore hope where hope is fading.

Mother Mary, Undoer of Knots, strengthen us when fear grips our spirit. Encourage us when we feel alone, forgotten, or discouraged. Fill us with divine courage.

Mother Mary, Undoer of Knots, bring healing into our bodies, minds, and souls. Intercede for restoration, relief, and strength for all who are sick or burdened.

Mother Mary, Undoer of Knots, in moments of fatigue, failure, or spiritual dryness, strengthen us with your maternal grace. Teach us endurance and renew our spirit.

Closing Prayer

Holy Mother, beloved Undoer of Knots, I thank you for untying the knots I placed into your hands. Wrap me in your mantle of love, keep me under your protection, and guide me always toward the Sacred Heart of your Son. Mother, I trust in you. Mother, I rest in you. Mother, I believe you are already working for my good. Amen.

Final Invocation

O Mary Undoer of Knots, intercede for me and untangle the knots of my life.

O Mary Undoer of Knots, intercede for my family and restore peace.

O Mary Undoer of Knots, intercede for all who are bound by confusion, delay, fear, or bondage. Amen.

Prayer to Mary, Undoer of Knots

Mary, Mother full of grace and Undoer of Knots, I come to you with confidence because Jesus gave you to the beloved disciple at Calvary, saying, “Behold, your mother” (John 19:27). Look upon every knot I have brought before you today. Some have caused tears, some have caused sleepless nights, and some have remained with me for years. Mother, I am tired of allowing anxiety to rule my heart. I place these knots into your maternal hands and ask you to bring them before Jesus.

Mother Mary, you know where the wine has run out in my life. You know where joy has disappeared, where peace has been disturbed, where hope has weakened, and where my heart has become tired. As you once said to Jesus, “They have no wine” (John 2:3), speak to Him also about my emptiness. Tell Him where I am hurting, where I am waiting, and where I desperately need His grace.

Mary, Undoer of Knots, intercede especially for the situations I cannot change through my own strength. When I am tempted to despair, remind me that “nothing will be impossible with God” (Luke 1:37). When I become impatient, teach me to wait. When fear rises within me, help me believe. When God's answer comes differently from what I expected, obtain for me the grace to trust His wisdom.

Loving Mother, lead me always to Jesus. Let your words at Cana remain within my heart throughout these 54 days: “Do whatever He tells you” (John 2:5). Obtain for me an obedient heart, persevering faith, sincere conversion, and complete surrender to Abba Father's will. May every knot I place into your hands become an opportunity for me to know Jesus more deeply and trust God more completely. Amen.

Prayer of Surrender Through Mary's Intercession

Mary, my Mother, I surrender into your maternal care everything I cannot control. I place before you my past with everything I cannot change, my present with everything I struggle to understand, and my future with everything that makes me afraid. Help me bring everything to Abba Father, remembering the words of Scripture: “Cast all your anxiety on Him, because He cares for you” (1 Peter 5:7).

Mother Mary, teach me your surrender. When God's ways remain mysterious, obtain for me the courage to say with you, “Let it be with me according to your word” (Luke 1:38). Help me stop forcing doors God has not opened, stop carrying burdens He asks me to surrender, and stop allowing fear to determine how I see tomorrow. Take me by the hand, lead me to Jesus, and help me rest in the loving providence of Abba Father. Amen.

Closing Prayer

Mary, Undoer of Knots, as I complete this first day, I leave my knots in your maternal hands. I have named them, cried over them, worried about them, and perhaps carried some of them for years. Today I choose to entrust them to your intercession. Scripture tells me that you remained with the disciples in persevering prayer (Acts 1:14). Remain spiritually beside me throughout these 54 days and teach me also to persevere when answers seem delayed.

Mother, when anxiety tempts me to take back what I have surrendered, remind me to trust. When nothing appears to be changing, help me continue praying. When God begins to untangle my situation differently from what I expected, obtain for me the humility to accept His way. Carry my intentions to Jesus and help me believe that Abba Father is working even when I cannot yet see what He is doing.

May these 54 days heal my heart, deepen my faith, restore my hope, and draw me closer to Jesus. May every knot I place into your maternal hands lead me into greater surrender to God. And whatever happens along this journey, Mother Mary, keep your words alive within my heart: “Do whatever He tells you” (John 2:5). Amen.
