“Walking with Mary to the Foot of the Cross”
Sign of the Cross
In the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
Opening Prayer
O God of compassion, tenderness, and unfailing mercy, today we come before You with hearts that sometimes feel wounded by rejection and abandonment. You created every human person with a deep desire to be loved, accepted, and valued. From the beginning, You intended that we should live in relationships marked by care, belonging, and mutual respect. Yet because of human weakness and brokenness, many people experience moments when they feel unwanted, misunderstood, or pushed aside by those they trusted most deeply.
Lord, through the Sorrowful Heart of Mary, pour Your healing grace upon every heart that carries the burden of rejection. Restore confidence where insecurity has quietly taken root, bring peace where bitterness has grown, and remind every wounded soul that their dignity does not depend on the approval of others but on the love You have placed within them. When human relationships fail or fall short, help us to remember that Your love remains constant and faithful. May Your gentle presence reach into the deepest wounds of our hearts and renew our hope in the truth that we are always cherished and held in Your divine care.
Meditation
O Sorrowful Mother, today we reflect on the deep pain of rejection and abandonment, a sorrow that your own heart understood profoundly as you walked beside your Son throughout His life. You witnessed how Jesus, who came to bring mercy and salvation to the world, was misunderstood, criticized, and rejected by many. Though He healed the sick, comforted the brokenhearted, and revealed the love of the Father, countless people still turned away from Him. As His mother, your heart carried the pain of seeing goodness rejected and love met with hostility.
Mother, many people today carry wounds that resemble this sorrow. There are those who have been rejected within their own families, who have felt the pain of being misunderstood or overlooked by the very people they hoped would support them. Others carry the sorrow of broken friendships, abandoned relationships, or situations where trust was betrayed. These wounds often remain hidden beneath the surface, quietly shaping how people see themselves and how they approach the world around them.
Teach us how to face rejection without allowing it to destroy our sense of worth. Help us to remember that our dignity does not depend on human approval but on the truth that we are beloved children of God. When others fail to recognize our value, remind us that the Lord sees the goodness within our hearts and cherishes us with a love that never fades.
Loving Mother, we bring before you today every person who feels alone, overlooked, or abandoned. We pray for those who feel invisible within their families, those who have been left behind by friends or loved ones, and those whose hearts are heavy with the memory of rejection. You know the silent tears that have been shed when no one else was there to listen.
Help wounded hearts rediscover the courage to trust again. Remind them that rejection is not the final word in their story and that God can bring new relationships, new opportunities, and new hope even after painful experiences. Teach them to believe that love can still enter their lives in unexpected and beautiful ways.
O Mother of Sorrows, stand beside all who feel abandoned and gently guide them toward the healing love of Christ. May your maternal presence comfort their hearts and restore the confidence that grows from knowing they are deeply loved by God.
Novena Prayer to Our Lady of Sorrows
O Blessed Mother of Sorrows, whose heart was pierced as you witnessed the rejection and suffering of your Son, look with compassion upon all who carry the heavy burden of abandonment and loneliness. You understand the sorrow of seeing love misunderstood and goodness rejected, yet through every trial you remained faithful in your trust in God’s plan.
Mother, obtain for us the grace to remain strong when we experience rejection or betrayal. When others misunderstand us or fail to value our presence, help us not to allow resentment or bitterness to grow within our hearts. Instead, teach us to entrust our pain to the healing mercy of God, who transforms every sorrow into an opportunity for grace.
We place before you today those who feel abandoned by family members, those who have been rejected in relationships, and those who struggle with the deep loneliness that often follows broken trust. We also pray for those who feel isolated or forgotten, wondering whether their lives truly matter in the eyes of others.

O Mother who stood faithfully beside your Son even when others abandoned Him, remain beside us in our moments of loneliness and discouragement. Strengthen our hearts so that we may continue to love with courage, forgive with sincerity, and hope with confidence.
Holy Mother of Sorrows, guide us through this Lenten journey and teach us to place our deepest trust in God, whose love never rejects and whose mercy never abandons His children. Amen.
Prayer in Honor of the Sorrows of Mary
Mary, Companion of the Abandoned
Most Sorrowful Mother, your heart was filled with sorrow as you witnessed your Son rejected by many and abandoned in His suffering. Even when others turned away from Him, you remained close with unwavering love and faithful devotion. Your silent presence at His side became a powerful witness to the strength of true love.
O Queen of Martyrs, obtain for me the grace to remain faithful even when I experience rejection or loneliness. When I feel misunderstood or forgotten, help me to remember that God’s love for me is constant and unchanging. May your maternal presence remind every wounded heart that they are never truly alone and that the mercy of Christ always remains near.
Hail Mary… (7 times)
Prayer to Our Sorrowful Mother for a Particular Grace
O Mother most holy and sorrowful, Queen of Martyrs, you who remained faithful to your Son when many turned away from Him, look kindly upon me as I kneel before you today. By the sorrow that pierced your heart and by the love that sustained you through every trial, receive my prayer offered with humility and trust.
Loving Mother, because your Son refuses you nothing, present my petition before His Sacred Heart. Ask Him to hear my prayer and grant it according to His most holy and perfect will. Through the merits of His Sacred Passion and your compassionate intercession, I humbly pray:
(Mention your intention here…)
Mother most merciful, when loneliness and rejection weigh heavily upon my heart, I turn to you with confidence and trust. Offer to Jesus one drop of His Precious Blood and one loving plea from your Sorrowful Heart on my behalf. Remind Him that you are truly our sweetness, our life, and our hope. Confident in your maternal intercession, I trust that my prayer will be answered according to God’s loving and perfect will. Amen.
Memorare
Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to your protection, implored your help, or sought your intercession, was left unaided. Inspired by this confidence, I fly unto you, O Virgin of Virgins, my Mother. To you do I come, before you I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in your mercy, hear and answer me. Amen.
Closing Prayer
O Lord Jesus Christ, through the loving intercession of Your Sorrowful Mother, receive the prayers we have offered today. Heal the wounds left by rejection and abandonment, and fill every lonely heart with the assurance of Your unfailing love. Help us to remember that our value is not determined by the acceptance of others but by the truth that we are Your beloved children.
Bless those who feel forgotten, misunderstood, or alone, and draw them into the comfort of Your presence. As we continue walking with Mary to the Foot of the Cross, strengthen our faith and renew our hope so that we may trust in Your mercy even when human relationships fail. We entrust our lives completely into Your loving hands, now and forever. Amen.
